Why you should go to VMworld in 2019 imho

I have been five times to VMworld over the past 15 years. VMworld has brought me to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Barcelona and Las Vegas. It is an event that holds great value for beginners, pro’s and veterans of the industry, young and old.

What did VMworld bring me? What did I get out of it? I did get to see the first public demo of what now is known as Fault Tolerance. Imagine 13000 people almost being shocked to see what happened when Mendel Rosenblum pulled the power cord from one of two IBM servers running a MS Exchange server doing a synthetic workload simulation and Exchange kept on running! I saw the emerging of cloud computing, virtual desktop computing, high availability, disaster recovery, all technologies that now are main stream but were quite revolutionary when first introduced at VMworld. VMware has been a front runner, path finder and ice breaker for two decades and has taken us on a fantastic journey.

But is is not only new product or future feature demo’s, it is the road map shared in the key notes, all the deep(er) level info shared in the sessions, the talks on the solution exchange with vendors and VMware cracks and developers. The discussion with peers and leaders, vExperts, VMUG leaders from all over the world.

And last but not least, the 3rd party parties, end user outings, partner appreciation events, vExpert parties and the VMworld party. Over the years these have brought me to a LA Lakers game, a San Francisco Giants game, I have heard some great bands like Train and Imagine Dragons in the stadium of the Giants.

So, don’t hesitate, convince your boss you need to go and register for either US (San Francisco) or Europe (Barcelona). I have added the registration links below.
